PETER HUJAR'S DAY (2nd June): Conversation between photographer Peter Hujar and Linda Rosenkrantz from 1974 sheds light on New York's vibrant downtown art world and the introspective journey of an artist's life. Ira Sachs’ insightful film, starring Rebecca Hall and Ben Whishaw, is a biography unlike any you’ve previously seen on screen before.
QUEER AS PUNK (9th June): In Malaysia, where LGBT identities face legal challenges, a trans man named Faris and his punk band defy norms. They tour, perform, and protest, showcasing resilience, camaraderie, and the rebellious punk ethos amid societal constraints. The film captures the complexity of a locally specific queer experience and renders its urgency universal.
TWINLESS (16th June): A young man grieving the loss of his twin brother joins a support group for "twinless twins". James Sweeney writes, directs and acts alongside Dylan O’Brien (Send Help, Maze Runner) and Francois Arnaud (Heated Rivalry) in this pitch black yet touching comedy.
PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE 4K RE-ISSUE (23rd June): On an isolated island in Brittany at the end of the eighteenth century, a female painter is obliged to paint a wedding portrait of a young woman. No introduction needed, one of the best film of the 21st century is coming back to theatres in a pristine 4K Re-issue.
MADFABULOUS (30th June): A riotous, uncompromising celebration of otherness inspired by the unlikely British aristocrat who bankrupted his estate, lived fast and died young. In his second feature, Welsh star Celyn Jones tells the story of the extraordinarily flamboyant lifestyle of the 5th Marquess of Anglesey.
