VOLUNTEER Newsletter 29

The so called  ‘quiet’ season has been ‘not-so quiet’ this year with a busy August and the ‘June – August period’ much better than last year!

We look forward to a busy time ahead!

Important Diary Date – 5.30 pm September 16th

Please come along on to a Volunteers Meeting on Wednesday September 16th when we will be discussing the 5th Year Celebrations and what input is  needed from volunteers! The Celebrations begin on October 8th and run through to Monday evening 12th… there are a lot of opportunities to get involved!

The Cinema will have its usual programme of films for which volunteers will be needed and over and above this the Celebrations will require extra help.

A15, 48 hour film challenge

This is part of the Celebrations weekend. Young people (over 14) can submit a Short film as part of the Challenge and the winner’s films will be shown over the weekend. It will be advertised digitally but we have leaflets which need to be distributed next week. (from Wednesday). Can anyone help?

Please contact Jackie Fahy on Rapid Response if you have some time to spare!

City Deal Estate Agents Boards to Support ActOne

There may be a few people lurking around who haven’t received a message about this. If you are willing to have a Board in your front garden for October which has a message of support for the ‘Cinema at Five Years ‘ please contact me direct on whatsapp! ( Sue ) We only need a few more boards to reach our target!

September 5th and 6th

Will be an extra busy weekend at the Cinema so you will find that Rota Central will be asking for double volunteers for some shifts! -FYI.

Change of systems for FOH

This will not affect anything we do, but the system we use for processing  the ticket selling etc is being changed over on Monday evening next week and may take a day or two to settle. For those in the know we used a company called INDY and we are now returning to a company called Savoy.

The Weekly Programme

This looks a bit different with a row of  icons at the bottom of the page indicating the type of film ie  hard of hearing , captions, carer and baby.

Look out for these icons next to the individual screenings.

Extra Support in Screens for Visually and Hearing Impaired

This is now available in both screens with a clever set of headphones which help with both. These are on the shelf in the Volunteer desk. One side of the headphones does amplification and the other amplifies and can pick up the captions/subtitles for people with visual impairment. It can instantly relay these messages via infra red which is ‘plugged’ into both screens.  FOH have been trained if someone needs help to use them

Thank you for your continued support of ActOne and hope to see many of you on September 16th

 Sue
