Bart welcomed those present and  introduced the slides – illustrating the operational highlights for the ActOne year.  

​

Peter presented the annual accounts for the year ending 30th November 2024 (ActOne financial year) as prepared by Clarke and Co.  This included a breakdown of revenue steams and the positive impact of operating the café in-house.  The cinema and café have 6 staff on payroll and 3 free-lance contributors who are all paid the London Living Wage or above. The directors have a finance sub-committee which meets regularly.

 

Bart gave those present an over-view of  the film slate later this year.

 

Bart thanked the volunteers who are an essential part of the ActOne unique and friendly public face, and the backbone of the daily operations.

Bart will continue as Chair of the committee with Lucy Burnham as his co-chair

Nick will continue as vice-chair

Peter will continue as treasurer

Amanda will continue as Secretary.

Q&A.

​

1)    What are the plans for boosting membership sales and donations?- in process

2)    Would you be interested in setting up a sub-committee, a ‘user’ group? - to be discussed further. It was agreed that this is a good idea.

3)    Suggestion to record Q&A’s for upload and keeping for reference/wider viewing – issue of our capacity and equipment 

4)    Request for better sound and lighting during Q&As - resolved

5)    Request for more music documentaries/films – answered (unlikely)

6)    Request for more daytime games (scrabble)- agreed

7)    Request for space for home-schooled children during the day- issue raised regarding  the impact on other cafe customers

8)    Request for more children’s films – specifically during the school holidays – not cost effective but we will try to screen more in the holidays

9)    Query raised over ‘balance’ in programming- answered by examples from the team

 10)  Query why we don’t participate in more film festival screening.
