A busy start to the year

At ActOne Cinema, it's been a truly busy start to 2023. With particular thanks to the Acton BID and the whole community who supported the project – the cinema's second screen became operational at the end of January. The ‘Name a Seat’ Campaign contributed to the funds, and the seat plaques are now displayed on screen two. ActOne thanks everyone who purchased a plaque, and if you're interested in sponsoring a seat, it's not too late – please get in touch for more information at amanda@actonecinema.co.uk

The second screen has opened up the programme for the cinema and the choice of films has increased. ActOne is particularly pleased to be able to launch the first season of National Theatre Live performances, which continue with ‘Best of Enemies’ on 18th May. Other upcoming highlights include a screening of ‘Coup 53’ plus live Q&A with director Taghi Amirani and three-time Oscar winner Walter Murch, a screening of The Coronation, and a ticketed screening of Eurovision 2023. A new contract with Exhibition on Screen will bring the Vermeer exhibition from Amsterdam to Acton, followed by the Tokyo Stories exhibition from the Ashmolean in Oxford. Information on the programme and all the special events that are coming up can be found on our new-look website at www.actonecinema.co.uk

The ActOne café is open from 12 pm-9 pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday; and from 11 am-9 pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays. With free Wi-fi, great coffee from Climpson & Sons, and a new selection of snacks and pastries, the team hopes the lounge and café will become a destination for you, even if you do not see a movie.
