VOLUNTEER Newsletter 20

It’s been a busy few weeks at Actone with Events and Special Screenings doing particularly well. There are plans afoot to give the Cinema a bit of a ‘makeover’ starting on Monday June 17th for about a week when the Cinema will (mostly be) closed. It will involve clearing out, tidying and  painting using a mixture of professional help, Cinema staff’s time and some volunteer input. As plans firm up more details will follow.

Please, please remember to check the toilets when you do a shift, especially handtowels, there have been occasions where the dispenser has been found empty.

Volunteer Meeting – March 19th

VOLUNTEER Newsletter 19

Welcome to the New Volunteers who have joined us since the beginning  of the Year it has been a busy time in the run up to the Awards Season and increasing popularity of in-house events, in January and February we contributed 226 hours of volunteering to the Cinema!

Martina is now Manager of FOH and while she encourages us all to sign up for shifts on Rota Central she is happy that there is usually a positive response when a request  for help goes out on Rapid Response. Just a reminder though, please check there are enough handtowels (in toilets) when we are on shift!

Volunteer Meeting – March 19th

This is a short newsletter as we are planning to have a Meeting on March 19th at 4.30-5.30pm: could you let me, Rota Central or FOH  if you can come along and also if you can’t.

VOLUNTEER Newsletter 18

Belated Happy New Year to everyone, lets hope its going to be prosperous!

Welcome to Cara as the new FOH Manager. We had a quick ‘get together’ (Cara, Amanda Martina and I) to have a look at the Volunteer situation. We have 34 active volunteers and 2 new ‘recruits’, there are a number of people who are on the list but have not been doing any shifts for the last six months. We will check out whether you are still interested!

We are keen that people should put their names into the rota rather than rely on ‘rapid response’.This is based on the idea that we, as volunteers, should appear for a shift unless there are no advance bookings at all. The staff team would like this because it can get busy with drop-ins and the café even when it looks empty on the computer booking sheet. It also adds to the ambience of the place when it’s not too busy and gives a more professional message to visitors. So, let’s be prepared and see how this works out.

Most volunteers are familiar with ‘chores’ in the bathroom but please remember to check level of paper towels and toilet paper, apparently a visitor was recently using the facilities without either! Light cleaning may occasionally be necessary, gloves and spray are are at the volunteer desk. Anything other than light cleaning is the job of the paid staff. Also, could we remember to check the the fire exit out of the toilet is closed.

Help with Clearing the Lounge area:

This is a request only and not obligatory but the FOH staff would  like us to help with this if we are able. This is just returning cups and glasses to the bar area if needed.

Birthday Parties

These happen from time to time and can often mean quite a lot of clearing up afterwards so there could be extra shifts included into the rota,  if we know in advance, or it may mean a plea on rapid response!
