"On Christmas morning this year, many women and children will wake up and spend the day in a refuge centre in London as they embark on the long road of recovery from the trauma of domestic abuse. Many of these families have left their homes in the face of immense danger, often with just the clothes on their backs. Being at a refuge centre means that they cannot have visitors and remain away from loved ones. This can be a difficult prospect for those who are used to spending this festive time celebrating alongside their loved ones. The refuge centres create a festive atmosphere during Christmas and arrange Christmas parties to bring some normality to the families lives during their time there. It is during the party that our hampers are distributed to the families. Hopefully putting smiles on everyone's faces! The feedback we received from the hampers we distributed for Christmas 2020 and 2021 made it so worthwhile".
W3 Are Community
Are collecting donations from the community to give to families in local refuges within the Acton area. We do hope you will join in being a part of this worthwhile project . The deadline to contribute is the 15th December.
They are collecting:
Gifts for single women/mum: Scented gift sets, candles, scarfs, etc.
Gifts for child: There are children of a vast age range so toys for babies up to the age of 16 would be amazing. If you would like specific toy ideas, we would be happy to send a suggested wish list.
Family festive food hampers: Crackers, tins of custard/rice pudding, hot chocolate, vegetarian marshmallows, mince pies, dates/dried fruit (no nuts) etc.
If you would like to contribute a cash donation, please do get in touch. We would be happy to purchase gifts on your behalf.
